Clingman Forest Greenway

Clingman Forest Greenway is a half-mile trail link that will provide a much-needed pedestrian connection between Asheville’s downtown and the River Arts District. The greenway will run through a long-hidden 10-acre old growth forest. Significant design efforts went into the preservation of this natural public amenity. 

Trailheads were designed to mark the greenway entrances. An elevated boardwalk system will provide tree protection, and a series of information kiosks will explain the site’s ecology and ecosystems. Trailhead parking areas and roadways are also included in the design.

Clingman Forest Greenway is part of the rapidly emerging Asheville Greenway System. Additional greenway networks and on-street pedestrian corridors are currently being designed by Sitework Studios and will be linked throughout the city.
