Montreat College Master Plan
In collaboration with LS3P Architects, Sitework Studios recently completed a 7-month master planning process for the existing Montreat campus and a new Black Mountain campus for Montreat College.
The master plan synthesized existing campus conditions, college facility needs, and anticipated growth over the next 10 years to create a holistic vision for the college’s two campuses. As the college’s Cyber Security program expands, it was essential to determine the Center’s ideal location and best fit within the surrounding campus. Growth at the main Montreat campus is constrained by steep topography and a lack of developable land, which ultimately shifts the focus of development to the new Black Mountain Campus. With the new Cyber Security Center at its core, this campus will be transformed from a largely undeveloped 89-acre parcel into a complete campus with sports facilities, residence halls, field house, and dining hall. Development is strategically planned to preserve the natural beauty of the site as well as it’s existing historic structures. The master plan carefully considered input from the college and diverse stakeholder groups, and was forged through synergistic collaboration with architects at LS3P and civil engineers at Civil Design Concepts.
